Oxford Blues Fest goes for round two


The Oxford Blues Festival will continue for its second annual event on July 22-24 on the Oxford Square and at the Foxfire Ranch in Waterford. The event will include 12 free show at various venues. The festival will also bring over 20 different bands from seven different states.

The motto for this year’s event is “Just a reason to Celebrate,” but people of the Blues community have more than a few reasons to celebrate with the line up for the event. Headliners will include King Edward, Eddie C. Campbell, Nellie “Tiger” Travis and Magic Slim and the Teardrops. Other performers will include Terry “Big T. Williams, The AM Band, Cadillac Funk, Jay Lang and the Devils Due, DuWayne Burnside and many others.

“ I am really looking forward to hearing some great Blues music this weekend,” Pat Marchuk said.

The festivals will start at 4 p.m. on Friday with a panel discussion the University Museum and will continue into the night. The event will resume at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the historic house of Walton- Young for Blues and barbecue. The final day of the event will be at the Foxfire Ranch with headliner Nellie “Tiger” Travis performing.

“Nellie is one of the major reasons I wanted to go to this event, because I have heard she is a great artist and she is from Mississippi,” Dana Tackett said.
